Local 4948 made a strong demonstration supporting our fair and justified bargaining demands to the Library Board on January 27. Over 75 people showed up to demonstrate our support for significant improvements in the new contract:
- Deliver fair, inflation-adjusted wage increases;
- Address unmanageable workloads, chronic understaffing and workplace violence and harassment;
- Ensure working conditions that promote equity, stability and a healthy work-life balance;
- Deliver workplace benefits that support worker health and allow library workers to retire in dignity.
“Thank you to all our members who took the time to show up at the Library Board meeting,” said President Brandon Haynes. “Filling the room and a lot of the overflow room made an impact, showing the employer the strength of support for our demands.”
Here’s a video of our presentation led by President Brandon Haynes, followed by a Q&A with questions from Board members fielded by Brandon.
