New Report Highlights the Need for Increased Funding for Toronto Public Library

Home / Blog / New Report Highlights the Need for Increased Funding for Toronto Public Library

On November 12, 2024, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) released a report titled “Much more than books: The case for robust funding for the Toronto Public Library.” This report highlights the essential role that the library plays in our city and the increasing pressures it faces to deliver more services with fewer resources.

Key recommendations include:

  • Increased support in the City’s budget to ensure the library thrives.
  • Exploring new funding sources, like municipal taxes, to boost resources.
  • Collaborating with other Ontario municipalities to advocate for increased provincial funding.
  • Encouraging the Province to step up financial support for cities and libraries.

We encourage everyone to read the full report here and to share it widely to support the future of our public libraries!
