Labour Day 2022

It’s Back!

We’re happy to announce that the Labour Day parade is back to in-person this year! Please join us for the march, bring family and friends, and enjoy free admission to the CNE along with our new 2022 TPLWU 4948 Labour Day union swag!

We’re so excited to be giving out our new union apparel and swag! Please come on time to receive your union swag as it will be given out on a first come first served basis until supplies run out. Family and friends that you bring will receive our union swag and free admission to the CNE too.

When: Monday, September 5th @ 8:30am
Where: Southwest corner of University Ave. & Dundas St. W.

Safety inspectors of the Technical Standards and Safety (TSSA) at the CNE are currently on a #StrikeForSafety. They are members of OPSEU Local 546 and have been in negotiations with their Employer since November 2021 after recently forming a union. They are fighting back against understaffing, high workloads, low wages, and more.

We urge all members to show their support for these workers and to take action to tell the TSSA to Put Safety First! Please take a few moments to sign and share this petition: https://opseu.org/strikeforsafety-action/.

We will keep the membership apprised as to the plans for Labour Day in the event that the TSSA decides to prolong the strike by refusing to negotiate fairly with their workers. Stay tuned for more information.
