Toronto Public Library Workers Endorse Olivia Chow for Mayor

Home / Blog / Toronto Public Library Workers Endorse Olivia Chow for Mayor

The Toronto Public Library Workers Union – Local 4948 has endorsed Olivia Chow to be our next Mayor of Toronto.

Olivia has a proven track record of leadership and experience that is unmatched by her opponents. She has represented Toronto as a school board trustee, a city councillor, and as a Member of Parliament. She supports reinvesting in quality public services rather than continuing down the path of dismantling them.

She has a clear vision that addresses the big challenges that the city faces. She knows how to work cooperatively with all levels of government, with community members, and has always stood shoulder to shoulder with working people. She has spent decades fighting for a city that cares for everyone.

Most importantly, she has a plan for our city that includes a genuine appreciation for the importance of libraries (and library workers) in today’s world. After decades of cuts, Olivia is the only candidate we trust to stand up for Our Public Library. She has the momentum behind her to be the progressive champion that our city so desperately needs.

Today is #EqualPayDay. Women still earn 32% less than men. The gap is even larger for Black women, Indigenous women, Arab women and women w disabilities.

We need strong public investment in community services to narrow the gap & increase women's economic liberation.
